Information for GP or Paediatric Referrals

Please send the referral letter via email to info@ecapsych.com.au.

Along with the MHCP, we require a referral letter to provide a psychology service compliant with Medicare regulations.

The referral letter must include:
-
The client’s name, date of birth, and address
-
Reason for referral
-
The number of sessions requested (6 or 4) or (10 from a Paediatrician)
-
The referring practitioner’s Medicare Provider Number
-
Referring practitioner’s signature

The referral is valid for the number of services shown on the letter and the referral expires at the completion of sessions, not at the end of the year.
For example, once a client has completed their initial six sessions, the psychologist will send a letter to the GP.
If the client will benefit from the additional four Medicare sessions, the psychologist will require a re-referral letter that needs to detail the essential information noted above. If the client does not require the further four Medicare sessions, the psychologist will send a summary letter of the therapy provided and the treatment service will be concluded.
